Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone is a country on the southwest coast of West Africa. It borders Liberia in the southeast and Guinea in the northeast. Sierra Leone has a tropical climate with diverse environments ranging from savanna to rainforest, with a total area of ​​71,740 km2 (27,699 square miles) and a population of 7,092,113 as of the 2015 census. The largest city in the capital is Freetown. The country is divided into 5 administrative districts, which are subdivided into 16 districts. Sierra Leone is a constitutional republic, with a unicameral parliament and a directly elected president serving a five-year, up-to-two term. The current president is Julius Maada Bio. Sierra Leone is a secular country with a constitution that regulates separation of church and state and freedom of conscience (including freedom of thought and religion). Muslims make up about three-quarters of the population, but there is an influential Christian minority. The religious tolerance of West African countries is very high, generally norms and is considered part of Sierra Leone's cultural identity.

Inhabited for thousands of years, Sierra Leone was founded by the King of England in two stages, as the country and its borders are known today. Second, the 1896 Endorheic Protectorate (because the King needed to establish more territory inland following the outcome of the Berlin Conference from 1884 to 1885). Therefore, the country became officially known as the "Sierra Leone Colony and Protectorate" or simply the British Sierra Leone. Sierra Leone became independent of England on April 27, 1961 and became the Commonwealth Realm on the same day. The name of the country was changed to the rule of Sierra Leone. Sir Milton Margai became the first Prime Minister of Sierra Leone.
