Palestine

Palestine is a sovereign state in West Asia that is officially governed by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and claims the West Bank and the Gaza Strip with Jerusalem as its designated capital. However, in reality, only partial administrative control is carried out on the 167 "islands" on the west bank of the Jordan River, and Gaza is governed by the rival government (Hamas). The entire Palestinian territory has been occupied by Egypt (Gaza Strip) and Jordan (West Bank) since 1948, and then by Israel after the Six-Day War of 1967. Palestine currently has a population of 5,051,953. In February 2020, ranked 121st in the world.

After World War II, in 1947, the United Nations adopted a plan to divide the Mandatory Palestine, which encourages the creation of an independent Arab and Jewish state and the internationalized Jerusalem. This split plan was accepted by the Jews but rejected by the Arabs. The day after the Jewish state was established in Elez, Israel, known as Israel on May 14, 1948, an adjacent Arab army invaded the former British mandate and fought against the Israeli army. The All-Palestine Government was then established by the Arab League on September 22, 1948, and governed the Egyptian-dominated excursions of Gaza. It was immediately recognized by all members of the Arab League except Trans-Jordan. Government jurisdiction was declared to cover the entire former Mandate of Palestine, but its effective jurisdiction was limited to the Gaza Strip. Israel then occupied the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank from Jordan (including East Jerusalem), and the Golan Heights from Syria during the Six-Day War in June 1967.

On November 15, 1988, in Algiers, PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat declared the establishment of a Palestinian state. A year after signing the Oslo Accords in 1993, the Palestinian Autonomous Government established (more or less) areas A and B on the West Bank of the Gaza Strip, consisting of 165 "islands" and the Gaza Strip. it was done. After Hamas became the main party in the PNA parliament in the most recent election (2006), a dispute arose between Hamas and the Fatah party, and Gaza was hijacked by Hamas in 2007 (two years after Israel's departure). Palestine has been approved by 138 of the 193 UN member states and has been a non-member observer state of the United Nations since 2012. Palestine is a member of the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the G77, the International Olympic Committee, and other international organizations.
