Kuwait

Kuwait is a country in West Asia. It is located at the edge of the Persian Gulf, bordering northern Arabia to the extreme north, Iraq to the north, and Saudi Arabia to the south. Kuwait also has a maritime border with Iran. The length of Kuwait's coastline is about 500 km (311 miles). The majority of the country's population lives in various cities in the capital city of Kuwait. In 2021, Kuwait has a population of 4.67 million, 1.45 million Kuwaitis and 3.2 million foreigners from more than 100 countries.

Historically, Kuwait was a strategic trading port between Mesopotamia, Persia and India. Commercial oil reserves were discovered in 1938. In 1946, crude oil was exported for the first time. From 1946 to 1982, the country underwent extensive modernization, mainly on income from oil production. In the 1980s, Kuwait experienced a period of economic crisis following geopolitical instability and stock market crashes. In 1990, Kuwait was invaded and then, under the leadership of Saddam Hussein, Iraq was annexed by one of the Iraqi provinces. Iraq's occupation of Kuwait ended in 1991 after military intervention by a military alliance led by the United States and several other countries.

Kuwait is the emirate. Emil is the head of state and Arsaba is the ruling family that controls the country's political system. The official state religion of Kuwait is Sunni Maliki Islam. Kuwait is the sixth most developed country in the world with a high-income economy supported by oil reserves. The Kuwaiti Dinar is the most valuable currency in the world. Kuwait is the fifth richest country in the world in terms of gross national product. In 2009, Kuwait's human development index was the highest in the Arab world.

Kuwait has the highest number of stateless persons in the entire region. Kuwait is a founding member of the GCC and a major non-NATO ally of the United States. Kuwait has strong economic ties with China and ASEAN. In 2020, the Kuwaiti government experienced a budget deficit for the first time since 1995. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, Kuwait and China have several important collaborative projects, including the ports of South Almutra and Mubarak Alkabir. Kuwait currently has the largest US military presence in the Middle East.
